Brrr.... it IS cold outside. Please use your discretion about coming in today. If you are afraid your car will have problems, then by all means, stay home. Also beware of ice on the ramps as it is way too cold for the salt to work.
On the bright side, I do not make my students stand out in the cold... as you might have to in the public school, so I will be teaching whomever shows up today.

Students needing to make one on one appointments may do so on Friday or Saturday afternoons.
American Self Protection classes are available on Thursday evenings at Tree of Life Church at 7pm. This is a family class for students of all ages, including adults. The class includes ASP stretches, reflex training through both "before" techniques and games, learning to fall with front, back and side breakfalls and rolls, basic kicks and punches and rolling kicks. More advanced students have time to work on ASP technical sparring with each other and beginners will receive help with their first techniques. A more advanced class is available on Saturday mornings from 8 to 9:30 under Mr. Greg Stanislawski, 2nd degree black belt ASP.
It is time now to make your requests for classes for this summer and next fall. Time slots will be going fast.

May was the month to travel to Hocking Hills with Mike Liston and other adventurers for a day of rappelling. Previous participants got the chance to try some new things including using the ropes to "walk up". Tirzah even got to "go Aussie" - face first while attached behind her back! Thanks Mike for a wonderful trip!!!!
May also was the month to finish up many classes and go on a few fieldtrips. There was a trip to Jackson Bog, Sippo Lake and a dusk trip to a forested area to check out wildflowers and listen for night calls from birds, frogs and toads. Treasured memories include discovering skunk cabbage still in bloom (the skunk cabbage blooms very early - often in February), Jack In The Pulpits blooming in the woods, a wood frog and thrush song.
A trip is in the planning to go to the cadaver display up in Cleveland. Several students who are planning on going into nursing in the future will be working hard at memorizing human anatomy this coming fall. The anatomy class will be in Green on a Wednesday morning if you are interested. If you would like to come along on the trip to Cleveland - send me a note. The date has yet to be determined.
Caving in August - Two days worth of caving for less than the price of one day!!!! A special opportunity is being extended my way to set up a caving trip in West Virginia with Mike Liston of Wildcat Expeditions. We would travel in on Friday, camp Friday evening, cave Saturday and Sunday and return home on Monday. Spaces are filling up fast. E-mail me in a hurry.

Yes, we have class today.
If you find driving from your home treacherous, please chose safety first and do not drive in to Canton.
